You don't just throw Monahan 20+ minutes a night against opposing teams top defense pairings/defensive centers. He's not ready for that. I think he's NHL ready but you could argue he should stay in the OHL another year.

The Flames need a center.

I imagine Grabovski could be had for less money and term than Bozak so if the Flames are going to sign a centerman, I think Grabovski would be the better fit for them.

I can't believe that Grabo's getting the boot. IMO, he was the hardest working player in blue this year. The fact that Phaneuf still wears a leafs jersey is just embarrassing.

Someone on Flamesnation mentioned they heard the Fan960 talking as if the Flames have an "agreement" for Mason Raymond (any truth to this??)

he hasn't been the same since his injury, but he is young and very fast. If we can get him at a good price on a 2-3 year deal, I'd be all for it.

As for Grabo...I'm all for the Flames just picking him up. He is the best Center option out there coming in to the UFA market. Clarkson will get WAY overpaid. Bozak isn't that much better then Grabo (if at all), and Grabo can play 2 way.

I'd personally pick him up off waivers. If he goes to market, he likely wouldn't pick Calgary anyways. not to mention, he would likely still get 4.5m per season on the market anyways. Flames have plenty of space, and he would have all the opertunities possible next year.

Make it happen Feaster! I think Flames will wait till closer to the deadline to trade Cammy, but he will FOR SURE be traded, at some point this season.

Well it just supports why they don't need to sign Raymond, yet another winger. I'd he ok with him on the 3rd as well, lining up on the right. Galiardi-Stajan-Jones would be a tough puck possession line at the least.

Uh, try the fact they still have only 2 NHL proven centers? And 1st line centers don't grow on trees, flames fans should realize this by now. It's possible Monahan makes the team next year but forcing him into the #1 spot immediately, just for the sake of doing so, is foolish to me. Personally I don't favor burning off year 1 of his rookie deal in any case.

Re: Brodie - it was noted by a journalist on twitter yesterday that RFA negotiations often don't start until later in the summer, when the UFA market price has been set.

Raymond is okay but I don't see why so many Flames fans want him. He's not that great + Flames already have an abundance of wingers. Need centers or a top-4 D.
